The DFRobot Gravity I2C LIS2DW12 Triple Axis Accelerometer Sensor is an ultra-low-power high-performance three-axis linear accelerometer. It has user-selectable full scales of ±2g/±4g/±8g/±16g and is capable of measuring accelerations with output data rates from 1.6 Hz to 1600 Hz.

The sensor comes with two independent programmable interrupts and a dedicated internal engine that can achieve various motion and acceleration detection including free-fall, portrait/landscape detection, 6D/4D orientation detection, configurable single/double-tap recognition, stationary/motion detection, wake-up for smart power saving, etc. And for your convenience, we provide you with sample programs for the above functions.

This is a PIMORONI LSM303D 6DoF Motion Sensor Breakout. The LSM303D 6d0F chip has an accelerometer, magnetometer, A / D converters and signal conditioning circuit integrated. The LSM303D 6DoF Breakout has an I2C interface and is 3.3V or 5V compatible. Still, the communication to the processor is done through the I2C bus. Thus only one chip is required to achieve a six-axis data detection and output. The LSM303D 6d0F requires very few peripheral devices.

This breakout board makes it easy to use the tiny MMA8452Q accelerometer in your project. The MMA8452Q is a smart, low-power, three-axis, capacitive MEMS accelerometer with 12 bits of resolution. This accelerometer is packed with embedded functions with flexible user-programmable options, configurable to two interrupt pins. Embedded interrupt functions allow for overall power savings relieving the host processor from continuously polling data. Due to popular demand, this version of the SparkFun Triple Axis Accelerometer Breakout includes pre-soldered male headers for better ease of use. With the headers already soldered on, you can jump right into using this little board without any assembly!

The MMA8452Q has user-selectable full scales of ±2g/±4g/±8g with high pass filtered data as well as unfiltered data available in real-time. The device can be configured to generate inertial wake-up interrupt signals from any combination of the configurable embedded functions, allowing the MMA8452Q to monitor events and remain in a low power mode during periods of inactivity.

The Adafruit LIS3DH breakout is a feature filled, low power, accelerometer that is configurable to several ranges of sensitivity. This accelerometer chipset is commonly found in a lot of commercial products so Adafruit has thrown together a convenient breakout board to test and experiment with it! The LIS3DH sensor has multiple data rate options ranging from 1Hz to 5Khz and has ±2g , ±4g , ±8g , or ±16g selectable scaling. The sensor communicates using I2C (2 address available) or SPI and is both 5V and 3.3V logic compatible. It can be mounted using the two 2.5mm mounting holes and includes a small chunk of breakaway header if you are using this with a breadboard or perfboard.

In addition to all of this, there are also 3 extra 10 bit precision analog to digital pins available that can be read over I2C.

Please Note: As of December 2020 we are now carrying the updated version of this sensor. Adafruit has updated this to be STEMMA QT and Qwiic compatible – that means there’s now an easy way to plug-and-play this sensor without any soldering!

M5Stack 6-Axis IMU Unit (MPU6886) is a 6-axis attitude sensor with a 3-axis gravity accelerometer and a 3-axis gyroscope, which can calculate tilt angle and acceleration in real-time. The chip adopts mpu6886, has 16 bit ADC, built-in programmable digital filter and on-chip temperature sensor, adopts an I2C interface (addr:0x68) to communicate with the host computer, and supports low-power mode.

The MSA311 is a super small and low-cost triple-axis accelerometer. It’s inexpensive, but has just about every ‘extra’ you’d want in an accelerometer:

  • Three-axis sensing, 14-bit resolution
  • ±2g/±4g/±8g/±16g selectable scaling
  • I2C interface on fixed I2C address 0x62
  • Interrupt output
  • Multiple data rate options 1 Hz to 500 Hz
  • As low as 2uA current draw in low power mode (just the chip itself, not including any supporting circuitry)
  • Tap, Double-tap, orientation & freefall detection

The MSA311 is very similar to the MSA301 but is not a drop-in replacement. The I2C address has changed from 0x26 to 0x62!

This sensor communicates over I2C or SPI (our library code supports both) so you can share it with a bunch of other sensors on the same I2C bus. There’s an address selection pin so you can have two accelerometers share an I2C bus.

To get you going fast, we spun up a custom-made PCB in the STEMMA QT form factor, making them easy to interface with. The STEMMA QT connectors on either side are compatible with the SparkFun Qwiic I2C connectors. This allows you to make solderless connections between your development board and the MSA311 or to chain with a wide range of other sensors and accessories using a compatible cable. QT Cable is not included, but we have a variety in the shop

We’ve of course broken out all the pins to standard headers and added a voltage regulator and level shifting so allow you to use it with either 3.3V or 5V systems such as the Raspberry Pi + Feather series or Arduino Uno respectively.

Comes with a bit of 0.1″ standard header in case you want to use it with a breadboard or perfboard. Four mounting holes for easy attachment.
