The three-terminal adjustable TL431A is a type of regulator which has guaranteed thermal stability over the relevant temperature ranges. Two external resistors can be used to adjust the output voltage between VREF (about 2.5 volts) and 36 volts. The typical dynamic output impedance of these devices is 0.2. These devices are an excellent replacement for Zener diodes in many applications thanks to active output circuitry, which offers a very sharp turn-on characteristic.
