Description

The FLORA is small (1.75″ in diameter, weighing 4.4 grams). The FLORA family also has the best stainless steel threads, sensors, GPS modules, and chainable LED NeoPixels, perfect accessories for the FLORA main board. The FLORA has built-in USB support. Built-in USB means you plug it in to program it, and the modified version of the Arduino IDE so Mac & Windows users can get started fast – or with the new 1.6.4+ Arduino IDE, it takes only a few seconds to add Flora-support. The FLORA has USB HID support, so it can act like a mouse or keyboard to attach directly to computers.

FLORA has a small but easy-to-use onboard reset button to reboot the system. The power supply is designed to be flexible and easy to use. There is an onboard polarized 2 JST battery connector with a protection Schottky diode for use with external battery packs from 3.5v to 16v DC in. Can be used with LiIon/LiPoly, LiFe, alkaline, or rechargeable NiMh/NiCad batteries of any size. The FLORA does not have a LiPo charger included by design, this allows safe use with multiple battery types and reduces the risk of fire as it is not recommended to charge these batteries on fabric.

Circuit Playground Bluefruit is our third board in the Circuit Playground series, another step towards a perfect introduction to electronics and programming. We’ve taken the popular Circuit Playground Express and made it even better! Now the main chip is an nRF52840 microcontroller which is not only more powerful, but also comes with Bluetooth Low Energy support for wireless connectivity.

The board is round and has alligator-clip pads around it so you don’t have to solder or sew to make it work. You can power it from USB, a AAA battery pack, or with a Lipoly battery (for advanced users). Circuit Playground Bluefruit has built-in USB support. Built in USB means you plug it in to program it and it just shows up, no special cable or adapter required. Just program your code into the board then take it on the go!

You can use this board with Arduino or CircuitPython – It does not support MakeCode at this time (there is no ETA when it might be added)

This is hot! Literally! Apply 5-12VDC and the stainless steel fibers in this heating fabric will warm up, creating a little heating pad. On one hand, it’s just a gigantic resistor. On the other hand, it’s flexible, light, and can be wrapped around a project. Originally designed for portable wearable heating pads, this fabric can be used for wearables, weather balloons, DIY-bio projects, thermal cycling for materials testing, etc.

The temperature reached varies with voltage. Note that while the data/spec sheet says 15cm, its more like ~14cm long. Check the spec sheets in the Technical Details tab for a table of voltage/current/temperature outputs. You could PWM it with a power N-channel transistor if you want finer temperature control.
