The CD4066B device is a quad bilateral switch intended for the transmission or multiplexing of analog or digital signals. It is pin-for-pin compatible with the CD4016B device but exhibits a much lower on-state resistance. In addition, the on-state resistance is relatively constant over the full signal-input range.

The CD4066B device consists of four bilateral switches, each with independent controls. Both the p and the n devices in a given switch are biased on or off simultaneously by the control signal. As shown in Figure 17, the well of the n-channel device on each switch is tied to either the input (when the switch is on) or to VSS (when the switch is off). This configuration eliminates the variation of the switch-transistor threshold voltage with the input signal and, thus, keeps the on-state resistance low over the full operating-signal range.

The advantages over single-channel switches include peak input-signal voltage swings equal to the full supply voltage and more constant on-state impedance over the input-signal range. However, for sample-and-hold applications, the CD4016B device is recommended.

This TXB0104D 4-bit noninverting translator uses two separate configurable power-supply rails. The A port is designed to track VCCA. VCCA accepts any supply voltage from 1.2 V to 3.6 V. The B port is designed to track VCCB. VCCB accepts any supply voltage from 1.65 V to 5.5 V. This allows for universal low-voltage bidirectional translation between any of the 1.2-V, 1.5- V, 1.8-V, 2.5-V, 3.3-V, and 5-V voltage nodes. VCCA must not exceed VCCB. When the OE input is low, all outputs are placed in the high-impedance state. To ensure the high-impedance state during power up or power down, OE must be tied to GND through a pulldown resistor The current sourcing capability of the driver determines the minimum value of the resistor. The TXB0104D device is designed so the OE input circuit is supplied by VCCA. This device is fully specified for partial power- down applications using I OFF. The I OFF circuitry disables the outputs, which prevents damaging current back-flow through the device when the device
is powered down.
