This high sensitivity single microphone module features MSM261S4030H0 digital silicon chip, I2S output, onboard SK9822 series RGB LED, two-wire control color.

MSM26S4030H0 is an omnidirectional, bottom ported, I2S digital output MEMS microphone chip. I2S is a general-purpose digital audio interface and is widely used in DSP and digital audio processing fields. In a conventional audio system, the audio signal collected by the microphone will be converted into analog voltage and output, and then processed by the main controller chip after being changed into a digital signal and encoded through the ADC of codec. However, the product of the MSM261S4030H0 series has a built-in 24bit I2S audio port, so without adding an extra Codec, it is able to realize full digital signal connections with DSP or MCU. The raw digital audio signal is directly output to the main controller chip. As a result, the complexity of designing signal chains will be greatly reduced, which allows the product to hold advantages in size, cost, power consumption, and anti-interference.

Nowadays, personal portable electronic products have been gradually becoming dominant in the consumer market. This kind of silicon-made microphone learns the advantages of semiconductor technology and combines high repeatability of production, excellent sound performance, and great expansibility. The Sound Detector is a small and very easy to use audio sensing board with three different outputs. The Sound Detector not only provides an audio output, but also a binary indication of the presence of sound, and an analogue representation of its amplitude. The 3 outputs are simultaneous and independent, so you can use as many or as few as you want at once.

The envelope output allows you to easily read the amplitude of sound by simply measuring the analogue voltage. Gain can be adjusted with a through-hole resistor, to change the threshold of the binary (gate) output pin as well. Check the hookup guide below for more information about setting gain.

Each of the three output signals is present on the .1″ header at the edge of the board. They are active simultaneously. If you aren’t using one in your particular application, simply leave that pin disconnected.

A sound sensor is defined as a module that detects sound waves through their intensity and converts it to electrical signals.

The sound detection sensor module for Arduino detects whether the sound has exceeded a threshold value. Sound is detected via microphone and fed into an LM393 op-amp. The sound level set point is adjusted via an onboard potentiometer. When the sound level exceeds the set point, an LED on the module is illuminated and the output is sent low.

INMP441 MEMS High Precision Omnidirectional Microphone Module I2S

The INMP441 is a high-performance, low-power, digital output, omnidirectional MEMS microphone with a bottom port. The complete INMP441 solution consists of a MEMS sensor, signal conditioning, analog to digital converter, anti-aliasing filter, power management, and industry-standard 24-bit I2S interface.

The I2S interface allows the INMP441 to be directly connected to digital processors such as DSPs and microcontrollers without the need for an audio codec for use in the system. The INMP441 has a high signal-to-noise ratio and is an excellent choice for near-field applications. The INMP441 has a flat wideband frequency response that results in a high definition of natural sound.
